Questions and answers
Do I need a referral to be seen?
No. Many patients come on their own, and many come because their doctor asked us to take a look. Either way, the visit is the same.
Will the doctor who referred me hear back?
Yes. A written report goes to the referring doctor after your first visit and after any change in your plan.
What does co-managed mean?
It means we follow your eyes and the hospital's eye service follows them too. We send the images and notes ahead, and we see you for the visits in between.
How much will it cost?
It depends on the visit and on your plan. How fees work explains which visits a vision plan pays and which medical insurance pays, and we give you a written estimate on request if you pay yourself.
Which visits go to a vision plan and which to medical insurance?
A routine exam is usually billed to a vision plan. A visit for an eye problem, an eye disease check or a follow-up is billed to medical insurance. Many visits mix both, and the office tells you which part goes where.
What should I bring?
Your glasses and contact lenses, your vision and medical insurance cards, a list of your eye drops and medicines, and your referral if you have one.
What if my eyes change suddenly?
Sudden vision loss, flashes of light, a curtain over your vision, a chemical splash or an eye injury needs care now. Call our office right away or go to an emergency room. If you can't reach us, call 911.
Can I fill my prescription somewhere else?
Yes. Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting, and you can fill it anywhere.
Can I become a patient here?
Yes. Book online or call the main office. You do not need a referral.
Can I have my contact lens prescription?
Yes. We give you a copy when the fitting is finished.
